VGA and DVI connections on the applicable Plugable graphics adapters provide video only and do not transmit audio. For example, the DVI-to-HDMI adapter included with the UGA-165 provides video to an HDMI display, but does not pass audio.
Why Is There No Sound From My VGA or DVI Graphics Adapter?
The VGA and DVI outputs used by these Plugable graphics adapters are intended for video output only.
On the UGA-165, this also applies when using the included DVI-to-HDMI adapter. Although the monitor is connected through HDMI, the adapter is converting the DVI video signal and does not add an audio signal.
What Can I Use for Both Video and Audio?
If you need both video and audio to reach your monitor, we recommend a Plugable graphics adapter with native HDMI or DisplayPort output that supports digital audio and video.
