Plugable TBT-UDH2 Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station

Problem Summary

The TBT-UDH2 dock delivers plug-and-play video via Thunderbolt 4, 5, and USB4. Most systems support up to two displays simultaneously, configured as either two HDMI connections or one HDMI and one Thunderbolt/USB-C Alternate Mode connection. Occasionally users may experience a lack of video output from the 2x HDMI 2.1 ports, or downstream Thunderbolt 5 port. This is commonly resolved by verifying cable compatibility and updating system drivers using the steps below.

Instructions

1. Confirm your host connection by ensuring you are using the original 80Gbps Thunderbolt 5 cable included with the dock.
2. Plug the cable directly into a Thunderbolt 4, 5, or USB4 port on your computer. Note: Standard USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 ports are not supported.
3. Verify your HDMI cables are high-quality HDMI 2.1 cables, 6 feet or shorter, connected without the use of adapters.
4. If using a USB-C or Thunderbolt display, match your cable to your display by using a Thunderbolt cable for Thunderbolt displays, or a "full-featured" USB-C cable (supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery) for USB-C displays.
5. Some Windows systems require updated drivers for their Thunderbolt 4 controller or graphics chipset (Intel, AMD, or Nvidia). Check your computer manufacturer’s support site for the latest downloads. If their site is outdated, you can often find the newest drivers directly from the chipset manufacturer.
6. If using a Mac, check your system specifications to ensure you are not limited by a "base" model M-series processor (non-Pro/Max). Some base model M-series processors (non Pro/Max models) only natively support a single external display. Expected Result

Your connected displays should successfully output video and be fully recognized within your system's display settings.

If the Issue Persists

Some Windows laptops equipped with a multiplexer (MUX) switch (such as gaming laptops with Nvidia Advanced Optimus) may occasionally struggle to output video to Thunderbolt docks, which we are actively investigating. If you have a system with a MUX chipset or if the above steps do not resolve your issue, please contact us at support@plugable.com for assistance and include the brand and exact model number of your computer and attached displays.

Note: Systems with Intel 12th Gen or newer processors (Intel 11th Gen CPUs are not officially supported).
