How Do I Apply the Firmware Update?

1. Download the firmware update utility on your Windows USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 computer.
2. Extract the folder named UD-3900C4_Firmware_Update from the downloaded ZIP file to your preferred location, such as your Documents folder or Desktop.
3. Connect the Plugable UD-3900C4 dock to the Windows laptop using the included USB-C cable.
4. Connect at least one monitor to HDMI 3 and/or HDMI 4, and ensure the connected HDMI display is active and running.
5. Navigate to the UD-3900C4_Firmware_Update folder and launch VmmDPTool64.exe.

If Windows Defender SmartScreen prevents the application from starting, select Run anyway to proceed.

6. Select the FLASH tab, then select Load to FLASH. You will be prompted to select the firmware file to load.

7. If necessary, navigate back to the UD-3900C4_Firmware_Update folder and select:UD-3900C4_Ver5_06_101_Firmware.fullrom The firmware update process will begin automatically after the file is selected.

8. Once the update is complete, power-cycle the dock by disconnecting its power adapter. The blue light on the front of the dock should turn off.
9. Wait 10 seconds.
10. Reconnect the dock's power adapter.
11. Once the dock and connected displays have reconnected, open VmmDPTool64.exe.
12. Select the Debug tab, then select FW version.
13. Check the information shown in the Status field and confirm that the Firmware version is listed as 5.06.101.
