Summary

When using a Samsung device with DeX, only one card can be accessed at a time. On compatible Windows and macOS computers, simultaneous access to both card slots is supported.

SD and microSD Card Behavior by Operating System

Samsung DeX

When using the UDS-7IN1 with a Samsung DeX-compatible device, the SD and microSD card slots cannot be accessed simultaneously.

Only one card can be accessed at a time. If you need to work with files stored on both cards, access each card separately.

This is a known limitation of the UDS-7IN1 when used with Samsung DeX. There is currently no documented software update or workaround that enables simultaneous card access in this configuration.

iPadOS

The UDS-7IN1 supports external SD and microSD storage access on compatible iPads.

However, iPadOS and individual applications manage how external storage devices are accessed. Some workflows, including media playback or file operations, may be limited by the application or operating system.

The iPad's Files app can be used to browse and manage files on supported external storage devices.

Windows and macOS

When connected to a compatible Windows or macOS computer, the UDS-7IN1 supports simultaneous access to the SD and microSD card slots.

This allows both cards to be accessed without needing to disconnect one card before using the other.

Important Notes

  • Samsung DeX: Only one SD or microSD card can be accessed at a time when using the UDS-7IN1.

  • iPadOS: External storage access depends on the operating system, supported file formats, and application behavior. Simultaneous operations across both card slots are not guaranteed.

  • Windows and macOS: Simultaneous access to both card slots is supported on compatible systems.

  • Product-specific behavior: Not all Plugable docking stations and hubs have the same card reader capabilities. These limitations apply specifically to the UDS-7IN1.
