The TBT-UDH2 docking station offers two primary modes to output video to attached displays via the dual HDMI 2.1 ports and a downstream Thunderbolt 5 port offering support for Thunderbolt and USB-C DisplayPort Alternate mode displays.
Systems with Thunderbolt 5 and Thunderbolt 4/USB4 support will have differing capabilities. Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C only systems are not supported. In addition, Windows versus Mac compatibility varies as well. Due to varying support please see below for more technical details:
Multiple display capabilities for Thunderbolt 5 systems:
-
Dual 8K 60Hz Displays on Thunderbolt 5 Macs - Connect up to 2x 8K 60Hz on M4 Pro/Max Macs with Thunderbolt 5 running macOS 26
- Dual 8K Display on Thunderbolt 5 Windows PCs - Connect up to 2x 8K 60Hz or 2x 4K 144Hz on Thunderbolt 5 Windows systems
Multiple display capabilities for Thunderbolt 4/USB4 systems:
-
Dual 4K 120Hz Displays on Thunderbolt 4 Macs - Connect up to 2x 4K 120Hz, or 1x 6K 60Hz + 1x 4K 60Hz on Macs running macOS 26 with any base M4 or M5 chip, M1/M2/M3 Pro/Max chips, and base M3 chip with lid closed (clamshell mode)
-
Single 4K 120Hz Display on base M1/M2 Macs - Connect up to a single 4K 120Hz or 1x 6K 60Hz display on base M1 or M2 Macs running macOS 26
- Dual 4K Display on Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 Windows PCs (Intel 12th Gen and newer) - Connect up to 2x 4K 120Hz on Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 Windows systems
Important Notes:
- Only two displays may be used at a time (HDMI+HDMI or HDMI+Thunderbolt/USB-C Alt Mode).
- The maximum resolution and refresh supported when displays are connected to the dock’s downstream Thunderbolt port using a USB Type-C cable or USB Type-C video adapter will vary and depend on the capabilities of the USB Type-C video adapter, the host system, and the number of displays connected.
