I Can't Use My Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD/ATI Graphics Utility to Manage the Monitors Connected to My Silicon Motion-Based Docking Station/Graphics Adapter. Why?

Summary

Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics utilities generally do not manage monitors connected through a Silicon Motion-based USB docking station or graphics adapter. The USB-connected display is handled by Silicon Motion graphics software, rather than appearing as a display driven directly by the computer’s Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD GPU.

Applicable To

Windows computers using a Plugable Silicon Motion-based USB dock or graphics adapter.

Manage the Display in Windows

To arrange the monitors, choose an extended or duplicate desktop, and set an available resolution or refresh rate, open Windows Settings > System > Display. You can also right-click an empty area of the desktop and select Display settings.

Select the monitor you want to change, then use the options Windows provides for that display. Some GPU-specific features will remain unavailable on a Silicon Motion-connected monitor even though standard Windows display settings work.

Need Assistance?

If the monitor does not appear in Windows Display settings, contact support@plugable.com with the Plugable product model, Windows version, and a description of how the monitor is connected.
