What Are the Charging Capabilities of the UD-6950PDH USB Ports?
The UD-6950PDH provides up to 100W Power Delivery (PD) to a host laptop through the USB-C upstream port that is located on the side of the dock, this is the port where you connect your computer to. While the dock does not have a downstream USB PD-capable port for high-speed charging of phones or tablets, the front-facing USB-C and USB-A ports both provide up to 7.5W of charging power.
Understanding UD-6950PDH Peripheral Charging
The charging behavior of the front-facing ports depends on the type of technology they use and whether a host laptop is connected.Leftmost USB-A Port (BC 1.2): This port is labeled with a lightning bolt icon and supports Battery Charging 1.2 (BC 1.2) technology.
It can provide up to 7.5W of power even if the dock is not connected to a host laptop, provided the dock itself is powered on.Front USB-C Port: This port supports standard 7.5W charging. However, because it does not support BC 1.2, it requires the dock to be connected to a host laptop to provide power to a device.
How to Charge an iPhone or iPad Using the Front USB-C Port
If your iOS device is not charging or connecting when plugged into the front USB-C port, ensure the following conditions are met:
- Host Connection: Verify the dock is connected to a laptop via the host USB-C port located on the side of the dock.
- Security Prompt: Once plugged in, you must respond to the security prompt on the iOS device screen. Charging and data connection will typically begin only after the prompt appears and is accepted.
