Do the keyboards require an authentication code during paring?

No. You don't need to enter an authentication code during pairing.

Instead, once a smartphone, tablet, or computer has connected to the keyboard and automatically paired with it in Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS, the keyboard won’t connect to any other systems until you tell it to forget the current pairing.

To make the keyboard forget the prior paring, you can use the Bluetooth paring mode key:  Fn + C
