The front-facing USB-C port on the UD-3900C4 supports USB 3.0 data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps and provides up to 20W of Power Delivery for charging small devices. It also supports the BC 1.2 charging standard, though it does not support Alt Mode video output.
How the Front-Facing USB-C Port Provides Data and Power
This port is designed as a downstream utility port, allowing you to connect peripherals like external SSDs, webcams or charging devices like smartphones or tablets at 20W. The inclusion of Battery Charging 1.2 (BC 1.2) support ensures compatibility with a wide range of mobile devices that require specific signalling to pull higher current.
Alternative Options for Video and Charging
Because this port is limited to data and peripheral charging, it cannot be used to connect a USB-C monitor or to charge the host laptop itself. For video output, use the HDMI ports on the rear of the dock, and for host charging, ensure the laptop is connected to the designated "Host" port on the back of the unit.
