Yes. The UD-3900C4 is compatible with Intel, M1, M2, and M3 Mac computers. However, macOS supports a maximum of three unique extended displays through the dock.
Why Does macOS Support a Maximum of Three Extended Displays?
The UD-3900C4 uses two different display technologies across its four HDMI outputs.
HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 use DisplayLink technology and can operate as separate extended displays on macOS when DisplayLink Manager is installed and configured.
HDMI 3 and HDMI 4 use the Mac's native DisplayPort video output. macOS does not support Multi-Stream Transport (MST), so HDMI 3 and HDMI 4 cannot operate as two separate extended displays. Instead, these two outputs will mirror each other.
As a result, the UD-3900C4 can provide up to three unique extended displays on macOS:
- Two displays through HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 using DisplayLink
- One unique native display across HDMI 3 and HDMI 4
