When considering whether the TBT3-UDC3 is the right dock for your M-Series MacBook, it is important to know how many displays the dock can support based on the type of chip your MacBook has. The TBT3-UDC3 will either support up to a single 4K display at 60Hz refresh rate, or dual 4K displays at 60Hz refresh rate based on the chip. More details can be found below:

Apple M1/M2, M1/M2 Pro, and M1/M2 Max

  • M1/M2 Chip: Supports one external display when connected to the TBT3-UDC3
  • M1/M2 Pro Chip: Supports two external displays when connected to the TBT3-UDC3
  • M1/M2 Max Chip: Supports two external displays when connected to the TBT3-UDC3

Apple M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max

  • M3 Chip: With macOS 14.6 or later, supports two external displays with the MacBook lid closed when connected to the TBT3-UDC3
  • M3 Pro Chip: Supports two external displays when connected to the TBT3-UDC3
  • M3 Max Chip: Supports two external displays when connected to the TBT3-UDC3

  • M4 Chip: Supports two external displays when connected to the TBT3-UDC3
